Help Screen timeout

I have had a problem develop in my Razr Maxx HD over the past few days. Te screen has started cutting off within 7 seconds while within most apps or the home screen unless I touch the screen. This has occurred with me changing the timeout from my default 30 seconds to longer periods of time. I have done multiple shutdowns and resets. I have not done a factory data reset because I do not want to spend the 2 days or longer getting my phone back to where I like it as a troubleshooting step until there is absolutely no choice. I am running on stock and I am not rooted.

Try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them). If the problem stops it is caused by an app that you added. See ... Safe Mode - DROID RAZR HD / RAZR MAXX HD by MOTOROLA.

7 seconds is probably the shortest time that can be set for the timeout and the timeout values is just getting nailed.

I tried putting it in safe mode. I am still experiencing the issue. Starting to think that it may be hardware.

Did you clear the Data Cache Partition? If not you could try that ... kind of a long shot.
