Screen Filter ? Reduce the brightness of your screen - on Drippler Samsung Galaxy Updates

I Know this is in the wrong section really, but I think for us Galaxy S users this is essential!!

It's an app to control screen brightness called 'Screen Filter' by Haxor industries.

It controls screen brightness by using a slider bar which basically acts like a filter over the screen, you can go from 100% full brightness to TOTALLY black! (Be careful if you adjust it right the way down as you wont be able to see a thing)
It's great for using your phone at night in the dark, no more headaches from staring at a bright screen.

One problem with the Galaxy S and Super AMOLED screen is that it is too birght even at minimum brightness. For this sole reason I had considered selling my phone when I got it as almost every time I used it I had eye strain! I tried many things to solve the issue- Dimmer apps from the market, Screen protector with Matte coating/Privacy screen protector but nothing worked.

Thankfully I found a software similar to what you have mentioned. While screen filter is free I would also recommend PRIVACY FILTER which is available as a demo for 10 days and also as a paid version.

I never used screen filter but have read in some of the comments that it can have some issues whereas privacy filter has been flawless. It also has a widget to toggle the filter.

I don't think the screen is too bright, the lowest setting is perfect for normal use.

It's funny, it's either too bright or not bright enough, there's no pleasing some people. :D

I'll check that one out :)

Haha I agree, people are never happy :p
I love the brightness of the screen, specially in the summer, but at night when I get a text message, damn things lights up like a christmas tree!

I liked the brightness at first, until it caused my eyes to hurt. So I disabled auto brightness and now my eyes are happy. :)

Well you wont be pleased if you find that after spending over 600 USD on a phone you cant use it because it cause terrible eye strain. I certainly wasn't.

Also I didnt see any point in keeping the default setting by samsung to a "minimum" level which wasnt minimum at all. If the hardware supports dimming the phone even further why not give user a choice? Doesnt cost anything and along with preventing eye strain for people with sensitive eyes it also help in increasing battery performance.

I just found out about this app yesterday. It's been a godsend as the brightness of the Galaxy S screen was causing me eye strain as well. It's a great app. Now my phone is amazing all the way from bright sun to low light to darkest night.
