Help Screen - Turn Off

Hi
My N5 screen turns off rather like an old television, with lit pixels compressing towards the centre until there is just a white line.
Is this normal?

IIRC, that was introduced with the Nexus 4. Don't know if it is Android or LG.

I remember the Galaxy Nexus doing this, so I think it's an AOSP rather than LG thing. Plus My LTE Nexus 7 does it as well and that's Asus.

Yeah, mine do it as well. The Nexus 4 was doing it and if I remember correctly the galaxy nexus as well. It's more of an animation then anything else.

That is basically what they call "CRT" shutting off. This was a big deal a few years ago when phones were first being rooted...............like the Droid X.

That is normal. It was brought in as a feature of gingerbread I think. It was meant to represent an old tv turning off.

Personally, I am not sure that I am a fan. Not that I have anything against CRTs...
If it is just an animation, is there anyway to disable it?
