Help Screen turns itself on

hassassin

Lurker
Hi everyone,
A few hours ago I noticed that my HTC one X would turn the screen on by itself. That happens mostly when I turn the screen off by pressing the button. The screen simply turns back on. It even happens when I dont touch the phone at all. That's really weird because it started today and I had no issues before.
Oh btw, I have not updated anything for about 2 months because I am at countryside right now without decent internet. Could that be the case? Because yesterday I downloaded 2 apps, logo quiz and a music downloader. However, I deleted them but it still happens.
Has anyone else experienced such issue? If so what should I do? Thanks in advance.

Were you plugged into power when this problem arose?
The first thing to check would be to go to Settings -> Display and Gestures -> Stay Awake
It makes it so that your phone won't sleep, but only when plugged into a charger.

Hmm no, it was not charging when it began. Later on it also started turning the screen off as well , although only after it automatically went on.
I tried to download some updates but there weren't any available. After connecting to the internet it doesnt happen anymore. I hope its fixed for good.

I know this might sound like a daft question but do you have a plastic cover on your phone?

The one i bought for mine of amazon used to put jhust enough pressure on it sometimes to make the phone think i'd held the power button down for 10 secs.

Mine used to do this until a recent update, there is another thread about it. Do you have the latest update?

I have the samsung google nexus hspa+, with android 4.1.1
It IS the most of to date phone (why i bought it).
This issue was there before, as I saw in other bugs (android 2.3 for example)
And it seems to be back.
