Help Screen Unlock Issue (Using PIN vs. Slide)

So far I am loving my new GNEX.. One issue I am seeing though is how the phone handles unlocking when you use stuff such as pin lock, etc. On my razr I was able to set a pin lock, however if I turned off the screen and then back on within a few minutes I could just do the slide to unlock w/o having to type in the PIN. However on the GNEX that isn't the case. The moment I turn off the screen and turn it back on it automatically asks for the PIN. Is there a way around this and have it handle like the razr? I have to have a PIN for my work on my phone, but don't want to have to enter it in every time I turn off then on my screen within a few minutes.

After setting the PIN the option appears that will let you set the amount of time before actually locking.

Yep, tried that.. I set it to 30 minutes.. It then hit the power button to turn off the screen then hit it again to turn it back on and it asks for my pin right away. Have you tried it yet?

I thought I had tried it, apparently not, I just did and I'm experiencing the same thing.
This might also explain why Tasker's keyguard off isn't working.

Confirmed I am getting the same... set the "wait to lock" for 10 minutes, and it requires the pass pattern immediately after waking up after only a few seconds.

It appears that the time setting for the lock only applies if the screen times out on its own.

Tasker's keyguard off / on activity is working for me here with ICS (Pin lock, delay set), even before I remembered to enable Administrator access for Tasker in Settings\Personal\Security\Device Administrators.

FYI: Pent (Tasker's developer) has been waiting on ICS for his Nexus S to resolve any ICS issues. There's an ICS sticky thread here that indicates that the Tasker 1.2 release which is now in beta testing will see some fixes for known ICS issues now he has his Nexus S updated.

This. The OS is manifesting what it thinks is the user's intention:

- User wants to lock device (initiate security), so OS is assuming that if user has pressed the power button, the phone should revert to secured state (require PIN).

- Screen times out on its own and user has a timed "wait lock" enabled, OS allows you to re-enter device without requiring PIN so long as X period of time has not elapsed.

If you think about it, it makes sense. If you have a PIN enabled, you obviously want some measure of security on your device. The phone is therefore defaulting to securing itself if you actively initiate the lock function - pressing the power button to turn the screen off. I actually prefer this arrangement, though I understand others might not and would like additional security options.

Thanks. It wasn't working for me until I changed the administrator setting. I already had it set in accessibility, but didn't know it needed device admin rights.
