Help SD card and Google Account problems

I am getting a little frustrated with my HTC Desire.

The SD card just started failing at random; I can't save on it anymore, it suddenly went to read only and I lost some really precious family pictures. It just acted like it never took them, two days after taking them, out of nowhere. I can't get them back it seems nor make my card normally accessable again.

Also is there really no way to change the main google account? Besides losing all the info in my finances, work and other apps by resetting it?

I'm frustrated because I love using my Desire and yet it seems the only way to keep using it is to lose more data than it's already lost on its own... anyone? Tips?

SD cards can fail, and if you have the issue, you need to get another one.
Thankfully, these are quite cheap.

You can try to use recover its contents with the free Recuva app on PC.

Check if you can move apps to internal storage (in case you have them on SD card). Also, individual apps have backup possibilities, so check that as well.
