SD Card As Internal Storage

The method in the tutorial may not work for LG phones. Don't know, I've never tried it. However I will say that I've never been a big fan of adoptable storage. First, buy adding the SD card to the internal partition, you are slowing down everything to the lowest common denominator -- the speed of the card. Even the fastest class 10 card is an order of magnitude slower than the device's internal ram. Next you are locking the SD card to that phone. It becomes encrypted and keyed to the device. from that point forward it should NEVER be removed from it or it can corrupt the whole shootin' match. Finally, SD cards are notoriously fragile and will fail eventually under the constant read/write load of running apps.

Use SD cards for what they were intended and designed for -- portable and temporary storage for static files.

Yep.
Adoptable storage sounds good, in theory, but as you said, let the MSD fail, it kind of screws up the works.

I lived with 16gb plus a 16gb MSD for a long time. Even with over 25% of the 64gb in the V40 already taken by the system, it'll probably never be filled by me. Still I added the MSD to store what I've always stored there.
