Root SD Card class?

So here I am doing research for installing/flashing (whatever its called) a ROM. Came across a thing that said you had to have like a class 6 or 7 SD  or it would brick me. Is this true??? This scares me. My SD is a class 2 and 8GB. I am really nervous about all this stuff now (even more then I was). Does this really matter? and if you could link me to a really informative how to rom?

That doesn't sound right at all... can't imagine why a cards speed would effect a roms install...

Both of my Eris's have the same SD card as yours and I'm a flash-a-holic. No problems I'm aware of.

As far as a good rom thry this one:

I am completely new to roms. I was gonna do it with my old x before I destroyed it and then my x2 before it was stolen. Do you know a tutorial off the top of your head for roms? And thanks Its good to hear. It sounded outrageously stupid to me but it scared me.

This took a lot of digging but here it is:

Alot of us are using Comdemned CM7 which is linked in the 1st post of this thread. Also Comdemned Soul (the dev) visits quite frequently with us. What I do is:

1. I use I/O file manager.
2. Download the rom and anything else needed with it. (using the phone)
3. After download completes go into the download folder and the rom and whatever else you downloaded should be in there.
4. Long press and select move.
5. Move to the root of sd card.
6. After it's moved go back into the root of the sd card and make sure it/they are there.
7. Boot into recovery
8. Make a nand backup.
9. Wipe factory/dalvik
10. Flash zip/zips
11. Reboot

Lets us know if you need anything else.

I just did everything and im rebooting. and the blue balls are swishing back and forth and its repeating that over and over and over. should I be scared? :(

I don't know what the blue balls are cause I haven't flashed that version but it sounds like the boot screen. It takes a little time.

BLUE BALLS? NOOO!!!!!! They suck!

Lol... No worries. It can take a few minutes to boot first time. After that it won't take long to reboot. Just to be sure in case..... before you flashed you did a wipe of everything... wipe/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik... correct? If not, you'll probably be stuck in a bootloop in which case you need to pull the battery, boot into recovery, perform all the wipes and flash. Then you'll be golden ;)

It takes REALLLLYY LONG to boot lol. But its working. Its slick looking. Ill come back if I have problems or something. so far so good. thansk for all the help. very much appreciated. I was really nervous but now I see how easy it is.

If I wanted to do a new rom do I go back to my backup or do I just flash over it?

The man with the plan is right above you and this is his last version. So that being said when changing to a different rom you will need to go thru the steps again. You can't flash over one rom to another unless it a updated version of the same rom. ;)

If you want to flash another ROM just put it on the root of your SD Card, wipe everything in recovery and flash away. The backup is pretty much just a fail-safe in case you have issues and need to return to what you had or you want to return to what you had. You could if you wanted to, flash a couple different ROMs and set them up and back them up and restore the back up and run a different ROM every day :p
