Help Sd card file recovery

Not sure where the appropriate place to post this so if not the right area I apologize.

Last night while downloading different items and then going to transfer them my sd card was wiped clean. I don't know how but it's not cool. My problem is this: I currently don't have pc access or a rooted phone so I can't figure out how to recover my files... I had over 200 family pics on the card that are not replaceable, I need these back. If anyone has any ideas please let me know...
 
In the meantime, DO NOT use your SD card! Anything you write to that card will likely overwrite the photos. They are still there for the moment, but the space has been marked as available for use. Remove the card and set it aside until you can get some recovery software to retrieve the remaining photos and files.

I have put it aside, trust me. Not gonna risk it getting screwed worse.

Restore image app doesn't work... tried numerous restore apps to no avail... Oh, I just thought of something, will me using more than one sd restore app ( trying at least) make it any worse? Or should the pics still be accessible?
 
Nope, it must be directly accessible from the PC, i.e. has a drive letter, MTP via the phone will not work. Recuva must have direct access to the file system, MTP doesn't allow that. SD readers are not expensive anyway and are a fairly common item, do you have a computer shop near you? Most recent laptops have an SD reader.
 
Yeah. Getting one won't be a problem, other than I'm cheap lol

Hate spending unnecessary money. But I guess, never know when I'll need it again.

I'll do that soon and let you know if it works or if I need other options.

Recuva works by directly reading all of the storage media, like an SD, looking for what might be valid data files at a low level. That's why the SD must be directly connected to the PC. The important thing is not to write anything else or make any changes to the SD, for any chance of getting your photos back, at least until you can use Recuva.
 
If your card appears to have been wiped clean, it may have failed, or is a counterfeit card
that has been written past its true size.
 
I would recommend Autopsy(the GUI version of SleuthKit) or Deft Linux over Recuva. Hell, I would even go so far as to suggest downloading Blade, an incredible GUI file carver, for the free trial. Point is there are a ton of different ways to recover your photos spending NO money out of pocket. if the SD card still works i can almost guarantee your photos are safe.

Don't google 'file restoration' or 'save my pictures'. Google 'open source Forensic software'.
 
Recuva is a really good tool. I have used it to recover my accidentally deleted photos. But they were lost from the phone's internal memeory. You can have a try, and DiskDigger, they are good choices to recover sd card files.
