SD Card / File Transfer?

HarryNutz

Newbie
I am going to be getting a 32GB SD card soon and will need to transfer everything from my current 2GB stick over to the new one and was wondering if I can just use something like DroidExplorer to copy onto computer and then simply transfer it all back onto the new one?

Are there any hidden type files or anything of that nature on the SD card? Anything specific need to be done to the new card before using?

Just use the PC's file manager as usual.

Probably. Be sure the file manager is set to show hidden files so you don't miss anything.

Probably not. It should come formatted and ready to go.

P.S. Nice handle...

What I did:

• USB the droid to the PC, enable the connection and find the SD on the PC.
• Turn on Show Hidden, make a PC folder and copy the entire SD to that folder.
• Confirm that everything was copied to the folder.
• Optional: erase all the files on the old SD.
• Unmount and remove the old SD.
• Mount and format(?) the new SD.
• Copy everything from that PC folder onto the new SD.
• Optional: use a droid file manager to confirm that.
• Power cycle the droid to be sure the droid OS likes the SD.
• Turn off the USB connection and remove the cable.
