sd card help

dmurph

Lurker
I am activating a new phone and trying to transfer all of my apps to my sd card using astro or andro zip. With either one it will show the app on my sd card, but when I put the sd card on my new phone the apps do not show up, so that I could transfer them back to my new phone. Please help with any suggestions, I really don't want to re install all of my free apps.
Thanks
Drew.

You cannot move applications simply by moving them all to your SD cards, parts of your installed apps will always be in the internal storage. As far as I know, there are only 2 ways to have your apps on your new phone:
1. Since your apps are linked to your google account, the first time you log in to Market with your new phone, it will automatically download everything for you (but you don't seem to like this option).
2. You can use applications like Titanium Backup, which will make app backups on your old phone's SD card and you can copy these backups to your new phone. You can then use Titanium Backup again on your new phone to recover everything (no downloading at all). The only drawback is that you need root access to use titanium Backup.

AppMonster Pro

“Let the AppMonster support you after phone reset or switch to a new phone. With backup of Market-Links you'll get your apps back and update-notifications from Market as well.”

Without root and titanium backup pro, you would be starting from 0 or stage 1 from all your games anyway, so just redownload them. You can't make copies of game saves and app data without root.
