SD Card Help

I have a Samsung Admire and yesterday, out of nowhere, the SD card icon popped up at the top of my phone. I dragged the menu down & it read "Preparing SD card, checking for errors." I didn't pay it any attention, but later on I went to my gallery to find a picture and it was empty. Then I went to my music & there was nothing there either.
I've tried taking it out & re-inserting it, and nothing. ALL of my images & music is gone & I really need it back.

Probably your SD card is dead. You can still try to recover it on your computer. How about checking all the software mentioned in this thread below?

I had the same thing happen to both my phone and my Samsung tablet after an auto update from Samsung. I was also told that it was sd card, but after buying new card now my phone keeps telling me I'm out of memory and nothing is movable to card. Really tiring of these updates costing me money. Why have external card if you can't use it or it can be erased by samsungs updates? Samsung needs to work on bug fixes..especially for Admire! After seeing the complaints online regarding this sd card problen I realize it wasnt my sd card at all.

How long ago did this happen? Because the Admire is three years old now, and was only a budget device at the time. Samsung as a rule provides updates for two years, so very doubtful if there will be any more updates for the Admire.
