Help SD Card issues

I am trying to get my pictures that got switched to the SD card while I was at my Grandson's first birthday. My phone was maxed out and so it asked to make the switch. I can see the pictures on my phone, but when I plug it into my computer to take those pictures off, I can't see the SD card. The SD card is too difficult to take out of my phone and put into a reader to get them off. What do I do? Thank you.

What kind of phone do you have and which version of Android is it running (go to menu>settings>about phone to find out) Most likely you're not mounting the SD card as storage when you plug it in, or it's being displayed as an additional drive and not part of the phone.

(YAY GRANDKIDS! :D)

You don't have to do that, but it is an option in 6.0 so I wanted to see if you did or not. It will change the location of the files.

when you plug in your phone and pull down the notification to get USB Options, enable MTP mode and you should see your phone pop up on your PC as a storage device. My question is does one or two drive locations pop up?

Sorry to interrupt; Simply wanted to say, (as brand new member to this site, and someone brand new to the whole forum chat-room experience as a whole)...........What are the odds of logging on for the very first time, and seeing a topic of genuine interest and utility to me, posted mere moments earlier, by another new user, being discussed in basic terms, and nearly in real time? Perhaps far better than I realize, but thank you both, none the less. :)

Yes, when I plugged it in to the computer. It shows the SD folder as well, but when I click on it there is nothing that comes up on the screen of the computer. The pictures show fine on my phone.

You mean it's an empty folder? No other files or folders?

When you open the phone's internal storage on your PC try going to /sdcard/DCIM and see if you can see your other pictures there.

I went over to Verizon, they took the card out for me to unload the pictures. With my arthritis, it is too hard for me to take the cover off of my phone. I bought another card and will have my husband put it in my phone and then I will try to format the new phone. I was able to see and retrieve the pictures when it was out of my phone. It was so weird that the phone showed the pictures and I could look at them fine, but when I plugged the phone in, it showed the SD card to click on, but once I clicked there was absolutely nothing showing on my computer screen. It was really strange. Even the DCIM did not show up.

cathy did you import the photos into the computer did you use a usb from phone to hook up to the computer or did you insert the micro sd card right into the laptop
