Help SD card keeps rescanning

Danco2002

Newbie
I have an Adata 32GB SD card in my phone. Starting the other day it keeps randomly scanning the card. At one point it said that the card is not formatted correctly and showed I had nothing on it, phone didnt even recognize it anymore. Then it randomly fixed itself. Is this an issue eith the SD card or with the phone itself?

This happened to me as well. Mine was a 32gb Sandisk. I went back to my 16 gb one(which is older). And haven't had a single hiccup since.

I tried reformatting (yes i did slow fat32), but the problem wouldn't go away. You should see if you can get it replaced, if its still under warranty.

Edit: Apparantly AData's mini sd cards have a lifetime warranty  . And Sandisk's are only good for 5 years. No surprise, I like to see a sandisk card last a lifetime :p

A couple of people are starting to pop up on this forum with problems with sd cards with this phone. I know micro sd cards can be unreliable so I had to switch back to my old Samsung 2gb card because my 32gb Sandisk doesnt work on anything. I think this phone is very picky about the memory type it uses.

the Sandisk does last a lifetime. the lifetime of the card right before it takes a crap

Me too suffered from this in my san disk 32GB. But eventually i came up with a solution... There is a hidden file called,".nomedia" in android/data folder. Copy that file in folders that doesn't have any media(mp3,audio, video, image etc) in ur memory. This file skips scanning of folder from android system, as it tells that there is no media present in folder.
Remember, dont copy it in any of music, video or picture folders or they will not be scanned and available in gallery.

There is rumors that sandisk class10 32GB cards are the culprit to such problems... And a guy with nexus couldn't boot in his handset after inserting 32GB card from sandisk however he got a replacement and a proper card... Search google there are numerous reports to such... I am glad that mine 32GB doesn't cause any problems and after restart mine scanning takes 40-45 sec sharply (That .Nomedia trick)

Classes has nothing to do with scanning speed or reading speed. Reading speeds are same in almost every card of class4 or above but writing speed changes with different classes.

I had to replace my ADATA 16 GB Class 6 because it stopped being read by my phone, causing it to freeze and overheat. Also couldn't be read by my PC. Replaced it with a Sandisk 32GB Class 10 card and hope you're wrong about this card being the culprit. So far, so good.
What do you mean by the ".Nomedia trick" ?

Thanks........Tom

Those sandisk sd cards were of built in dec 2012 and jan 2013. I don't think now market has any one remain of that build time. So u are gud to go now.

No media trick is that you have to put a file ".nomedia" in folder that doesn't have any media (songs, videos, image, etc). This file is already present in Android >Data folder. (Just copy-paste). This way folder is skipped during scanning of card and it loads a lot faster. (mine in 5 seconds.)
Beware that dont put that file in any folder containing any media file or gallery wont show those items of that folder.

I also use this trick to hide my personal pics by copying them in such folder. This doesn't show them in gallery. :)
