Help sd card "not inserted" after phone was lost and found

Hello everyone!

It would be great if you could help me rescue my phone's data: I'm using a Moto E (2nd generation) with Android 6.0.
My phone got lost and I used the Android Device Manager to lock it from the distance. Later I managed to get the phone back. When it was returned it was turned off. I don't know what the founder did with it but I am sure he didn't intend to do anything. He was an old man and barely knew how to touch the phone. I switched it on and it told me the sd card was not inserted - but it was.

I tried many things: switching on and off, taking the card off and inserting it again, connect it with the computer. Even data recovery programs didn't find the card.

Is there anything else I can do to safe my fotos, music and apps?

correct:

once you tell Device Manager your phone is stolen, they do a secure erase of everything, on the phone, and on the SD card.
They are protecting your financial data and history, etc. not the physical phone.

there is no way to know, if the phone will ever come back home. Usually it does not.

for the OP, just count yourself lucky you got the phone back. buy a new SD card and move on with your life.
 
yeah, sounds like a good way to deal with it, thanks! anyway, the strange thing is, that the phone itsself is not erased - only the part that used to be on the sd card (wich, of course, is highly connected in android 6, so many apps don't work).

next problem now: after deconnecting the SD card from the phone it could'nt format it, nor could the computer ("read-only").
