Help SD Card not mounting

zoltic101

Lurker
So I have an 8gb SD Sandisk card and the first time I got the phone (LG Optimus Elite) and used the SD card it worked perfectly, Its been almost a year since ive gotten the phone and midway in the time span moving the phone would "unexpectedly remove the SD card" now my phone isnt reading the card at all. When I put the SD card in, in the SD card settings it stays the same as if nothing happened. To test the problem my brother has the same phone as I do so I put my SD card in his phone and it was read.

Side note: Yesterday it was reading it but when I mount it a notice says "Blank SD Card"

Also ive quick formatted and the long format to the SD card

Any help?

If sdcard works in another phone it sounds like your card slot is going bad. I'd try another known working card and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'd say you have a hardware issue.

If it's been less than a year virgin mobile should send you a new phone.

Is there any way to fix this hardware issue?

You can try cleaning the contacts on the card reader; I hear a pencil eraser can do the trick nicely. Of course I don't think you can get to the contacts easily, so it may take some ingenuity. Another option is to shim the card in the reader so it fits more tightly against the contacts to help ensure a connection. As kwknott said, another card may work better than the one you've been trying.
