Help SD card notification

I just got a S7 Edge and put in my SD card and now I have the notification that says
Tap here to transfer media files.
Explore Unmount.
I can't get rid of it. I tried rebooting and unmounting but it's still there. I vaguely remember something like this on an older phone but I can't remember what the solution was. Any suggestions?
I did try Google but not much info other than reformat the card and I was trying to avoid that.
Thanks for any help!

I think it's a hardware issue. I've been having storage issues with my S7 since I chose to put a sd card in.

There is supposed to be a method of combining the on board storage with SD storage. Not sure what all it entails. But it might be worth exploring.

While it's not clear from your post, do you have data already stored on the SD card? I am assuming that, given your reluctance to reformat.

In his post, happaflap is referring to "adoptive storage". Before you choose that option please read up about it since it will make your SD card unreadable outside your phone.

Yes I do have data already on the card so I really don't want to reformat unless I absolutely have to.

I've had this since I got the phone a couple of months ago. It's almost certainly a hardware fault and I really should get round to talking to my phone supplier. I installed SD Card Monitor and it shows the card being ejected, unmounted and bad-removal every so often (133 times for me since I reset the stats last Wednesday 31st August).
There are lots of threads, certainly elsewhere, that have suggested fixes. The most common one I found was to re-format the card. So I bit the bullet and reformatted and re-copied the data back on. You can imagine how much hassle it is copying 25+GiB of data onto a phone that is constantly unmounting the SD card... It made not a bit of difference.
I'm currently running with various apps using the internal memory because I can't trust the SD card to be mounted. As I say I need to return the phone to the retailer while it's still in warranty.
For the record my SD card is a 32GB Samsung. My previous S4 managed to work with it and I'm a bit unimpressed that the S7 is so flaky in this regard.
