SD Card problem

I newly bought a Samsung Galaxy Young and it only had about 1GB. My mum purchased an 8GB SD card and when I put it in my phone it wouldn't turn on. It starts to then just flashes the samsung logo over and over again. I took it out and tried to turn my phone on and now that won't work!!!!! My phone won't turn on and it's bran-new!!!
 
Hello. It could be due to a number of different problems. New, I think the best course of action is to return it for another or let them fix it. I hope this helps.
