SD card problems

I am having trouble moving apps to my SD card.  The phone can read what is already there but I can't move any new apps there. Doesnt give me the 'move' option like it should. Just got phone. I backed up everything and formatted SD card...same thing happened.  Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

If you just got the phone why do you think it "should" give you the option to move apps to SD? Do you know that should be a feature of this model? That's not been officially part of Android since 4.0, so it's been up to the manufacturer whether they add that in and to which devices.

So, just to be sure (and apologies if this is all stuff you know) go to Settings, Apps, Downloaded (not All) and select an app you installed. If the move to sd button is there but greyed out then the phone supports it but that app doesn't (many don't). If there is no button the phone doesn't support it.

In Android 6 they added the option to format a card as "internal" storage ("adopt" it), which is the current replacement for the old Froyo-era "move to sd". However, not all manufacturers took this up. If you want to look into this it will be in the Storage settings I expect, if your device supports it. If you do this the card will not be readable by other devices, and a fast card is recommended.

Thanks... Maybe that is what it did. I think its the phone that doesn't support it. Appreciate the response
.    If you are rooted this feature CAN be turned on.  There is also a  way if not rooted but youll  need adb.

ADB and fastboot are entirely different things (both being part of the sdk is the only connection). You do not need to be rooted to use adb. You just need to install adb on your computer and turn USB debugging on on the phone.

But if the phone doesn't support moving to sd adb won't let you change that.

I know but a few people have said Fastboot instead of ADB. I put a link to hhelp guide.
