Depends on the phone. If it supports that feature go into Settings > Apps > Downloaded, select an app and look for a "move to sd" button. If it's there you can use it. If it's there but greyed out the phone supports it but that app doesn't; pick a different app. If there's no button the phone doesn't support it.
You can't move built in apps, so only look at downloaded ones.
This feature was introduced in Android 2.2, and deprecated in 4.0. However, many manufacturers retained it even after it was not officially supported. So there's a good chance you have it, but not guaranteed.
