Help SD Card read only for non-root user

hoanns

Lurker
Hi, I have a Toshiba AT300 se-101 and for some time only root apps have access to my external sd card.

so I tried remounting it and also chmod 777 to the whole sdcard. but nothing works. still root only write.

I have attached a pic of mounted partitions and the permission-stats for the sdcard (which is 0075,never saw that one before)

Anyone has any ideas what I can do?
Clearly it is a software issue if root can write on it.

ok i fixed it by reformatiing the sdcard to exfat not fat32(weird that mount showed vfat)

but whatever, now mount shows fuse as filesystem, so I think fuse couldnt mount whateever filesystem the sd card was before, so it had to be mounted natively (idk I am making this up)

As Android is based on a Linux kernel, the default file system on our phones is ext4. FAT32, while still used in things like USB thumb drives and SDcards that need to be used on different operating systems , is the older Windows default file system and isn't compatible with Unix-style file permissions.
