Help SD card - readonly - solution?

as many others I am in quite a predicament.

My 16gb card is mounted as read only after update to 2.2.

Now today I had a friend put my microSD card into his HTC phone and format it. Which he did.
I inserted it into my phone, but no change..

today I tried checking the card via ES file browser and discovered that the old data before the format was still on the card.. at least a few folders..
But all files in root and probably the folders were complete garbage..

This happened to me once. I tried popping it out and back in ... didn't work. I had to copy and paste all files off of the card and repartition it using recovery. That did the trick. If that still doesn't work, I would ask Mobile Analytics: they are the ones who explained how to use recovery.

what happens when you reach the full capacity of your card? (or near full)
 
where is your old card? use it to export your contacts to for safe keeping. If it works then we know it is the 16gb card that has issues.

if you dont have an old SD card.. you can buy a cheap small one (2gb) for less than $10 now.

have you tried to reformat with your phone?
with your computer?

how old is the SD card? can you turn it for warranty replacement?
