"SD Card Removed" error.... Need Help (Please Read).

First off, let me say that I am new to the forums and that I realize the problem I'm having has been discussed on in other threads. I apologize if this doesn't belong but the reason I'm posting this here is because I have not been able to find an answer and believe me, I've dug through two days worth of posts but I'm still solution-less so here it goes...

I just got my x10a and it's working great except for one problem. In the notification bar, I have a memory card icon with a message that states "Sd card removed. Insert a new one." The problem is that my card is in the phone.

I'll give you a list of the things I've tried already:

- SE's Update Service (latest version) says I already have most up to date firmware.

- cannot connect phone to computer because it says " Insert memory card and reconnect usb cable." I'd love to, but it's already inserted.

- Power cycling, removing battery, hard & soft resets do nothing. Tried each method at least a dozen times.

- Bought new MicroSD card and both new and original render same message in phone. Upon being inserting into computer, both cards are able to be read so cards are not corrupted.

- Formatted each card to every format there is available. This includes formatting with the "quick format" option unchecked.

- All Sd memory card options are grayed out under setting because the phone thinks it's not in there.

-When connected via usb to computer, the "Mount SD Card" option does not appear. This fails to happen whether or not USB Debugging mode is turned on or off.

- I used this video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg&feature=related to help me flash to 2.1.1, but can find nothing about this causing the problems I'm having. I followed the instructions to the T, and have even re-flashed twice and still have the same problem.

I'm really at my wits end here guys, I don't know what else to do. If you have another suggestion I'd love to hear it and I'll definitely try it. This really sucks because I love this phone so far, but cannot take pictures, load music, ect without the sd card.

thanks in advance for your help ; I'm hoping someone will be able to give me some answers

^ Thanks for the reply

I cannot access these options because they are grayed out. All that shows up is "Unavailable".

While I was on my way home tonight, I reached over and picked up the phone out of the front seat and noticed that in the status bar, the icon now said "Preparing SD Card"!! FINALLY?!? After 3 days of searching for an answer, it was finally working! I immediately tried taking pictures and they were working for about 5 minutes. I then received a message saying "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed". :( I went to the SD settings menu and was able to format the card but that option was the only thing that kept repeating.

I should also note that after I initially noticed the "Preparing SD Card" notification, it power cycled off, which I remember reading was a problem as well.

I tried removing the card and reinserting it and quickly learned that was a bad idea because I am now back to square one. At least I know now that it CAN work but getting it back to that state is what I'm interested in.

Sounds stupid but have you tried to re flash the OS...

It might just work, as you have had this problem since following the video.

I've got the same problem, what i've read is to format the card (hope you've got a backup) with a card reader and all should be fine... the one thing i don't have is a card reader.

Bummer....here is one other way you could try doing it.

Do you have a digital camera?

If you have a SDCard and a digital camera (you probably need the SDCard mini adapter....it came with my SDCard...lets you put the mini SDCard in a regular sized SDCard) You can then stick that in a digital camera and chose to format the card.

Or find a friend with a laptop that has it, or a pc with a media reader (like an HP) I only takes a few seconds if you can find one.
