SD Card SLOT is Bad?

Hi all,

First before everyong jumps in with "try reformatting your card"... I have... multiple times and methods and also tried 2 other cards. That being said.... :)

About 2 weeks ago I started receiving the "SD card unmounted unexpectedly" error so I removed the card, put it in the PC and pulled my important items off and reformatted (in the PC - long version, not "quick format"), popped it back in the phone, same constant error... mount and unmount, over and over. I formatted in the phone... same result.

Off to buy a new SD card - preformatted in the PC (long version)... popped in the phone... same error over and over, format via phone... same result.

I found the tiny SD card that came with the phone in a drawer and tried THAT in the phone... same result.

My question is - can an SD card slot just magically "go bad" one day? Is it the physical slot in my phone itself? The phone is roughly a year old and I had not removed the SD card since the day I inserted it. Oh and yes, I tried blowing canned air up in the slot as well.

Any ideas?

THANKS!

Mine has done the same thing, but also paired with the sim card error too. It is definitely a hardware issue with the card reader, and I think overheating. I am preparing to search for a new phone. This one has served me well since launch, and I probably would not replace so soon if the card errors would not have popped up.
