SD Card transfer to another SD Card

Hey all..

I have a Galaxy S3 with a ton of MP3s on my SD Card

Currently I have a 16GB SD and I am looking to increase capacity to 32 or 64!! Looking to use this in the Galaxy S4 in a couple weeks

I have a MAC computer but I also have access to a PC Laptop or Desktop

What I'm hoping for is a quick way to transfer the MP3s from one SD to another, most likely on the computer

I currently d/l all my music straight from the App on my phone to the SD so I don't have anything installed on my computer for such a transfer.

I'm wondering what you folks use on your computers for MP3s and transferring that sort of file from one SD to another. I'm hoping I will be able to use an SD reader or adapter for my computer and drag and drop MP3s from one SD to another but I'm betting it won't be that easy. What programs do you use/recommend?

Also, on your phone, what do you use for MP3 players and free music downloaders? I know there are a few threads out there dedicated to this sort of thing so you don't have to go into great detail but any info is appreciated!

Thanks ahead of time :D

actually drag and drop should work just fine for this.

If you don't have a micro sd card reader on your PC you could connect to the PC using USB connect on your phone. Then create a folder on the desktop and transfer all the MP3 files from the phone to that folder. Disconnect the phone, unmount and remove the old card. Put the new micro sd card in the phone and format it. Connect the phone back to the PC then transfer the folder from the PC to the new card. Your phone will scan it then you're all set. HTH

I've done this twice now. 8Gb to 16Gb, then 16Gb to 64Gb.

- Switch off the phone then use an SD card reader and Windows Explorer to copy the entire contents of the old SD card to a PC desktop then back to the new SD card.

- Insert and switch on phone.

To be honest, I was expecting Android (or the apps which store data on the card) to complain due to some inevitable file system incompatibility but it just carried on working as if the original card was still there only now you get bucket loads of space.

Forgot to mention that I first formatted the new card in the phone as dontpanicbobby described.

Good luck.
