Help Sd card unexpected removed

vpctv

Lurker
Seems mostly when waking my phone I get a notification saying the "sd card has unexpectantly been removed" it then does " preparing sd card "
This phone has already fried one sd card to the point of being unrecoverable and unreadable in any reader. The kind folks at JB HiFI exchanged the card has I had only bought it a week earlier..
Has anybody else experienced this and is there a solution.
Running JB 4.1.1

Mine fried an SD card, and a few weeks later, so did my wife's!

This is my third smartphone (the others were HTC Droids) and the FIRST one to fry SD cards. I know folks with other Smartphones (including Samsung Nexus) and the SG3 is the ONLY phone that I know of that fries SD cards!

I'm actually looking into switching to a Droid Razr HD. Having to backup my phone (and my wife's phone) EVERY TIME we add a picture or video is getting to be a real pain. When our cards got fried (at different times), I tried 4 different well-regarded data recovery apps in Win7 -- and was not able to recovery ANY files at all!

Sorry, don't have a solution as I think there is just some hardware problem with this phone.

very strange issue which cards are u guys trying to use and what class are the cards? i am currently using a Transcend class IV 32gb card for the last 4 months and i have not had a single issue with it.

i use micro sd cards for loads of my techy stuff (mini cameras, work blackberry, camcorder with adapter etc etc etc) and i have found the only time they mess up is when you buy cheap or fake cards off ebay.

i recommend sandisk ultra, they are about

This has started happening to me with my S3 & 32Gb SanDisk card. Had no problem for the last few months. I'm also suffering from my battery tanking suddenly. I'm wondering if there's something up with either an app or Jelly Bean. I went to check software update yesterday & it told me that my phone had been modified & the update service was unavailable - but I've got the official Jelly Bean update from 3 installed via Kies! :-\

With OTHER devices, I would agree with you -- but in MY case, the SD cards were not CHEAP or FAKE -- they were EXPENSIVE ($50) class 10 SD cards, some from Lexar, some from Sandisk. Also had a class 6 SD card (Kingston) get fried as well.

Same thing with my S3. When I first bought it, I swapped in the 8gb card I had been using in my DX. Fried it within a month. I then purchased a SanDisk 32gb Ultra SDHC (class 10) and it fried that one within a month as well. Fortunately, I back-up my files fairly regularly so, while having to get new cards was a PITA, I didn't lose any data.

I'm currently using a PNY 16gb SDHC (class 10) and so far it's lasted about a month and a half. Speaking of which... it's time to do another back-up. I still haven't decided if I like this phone or not. Between it frying cards left and right and having crappy radios... I might be moving to a Motorola in the future.

I've had a couple email exchanges with Samsung about this. Both mine and my girlfriends SD cards have been fried. They say that they don't support any 3rd party SD cards (can't find that in the manual though), therefore it's not their fault that we're not using Samsung brand SD cards.

They went on to say that their stance is that everyone on these forums is lying, and no one is having this issue. Since none of the forums with people reporting the issue (here, xda, etc) are owned by Samsung, none of them are legitimate.
