Go to take a pic and my phone says insert sd card first. Funny thing is I never took out the sd card. Its still there, I checked. Kyocera hydro 6 months old

Can other apps see the SD card? If not, try unmounting and mounting the card (or even just rebooting the phone).
If they can, try going to settings > applications > all, selecting the camera app and clearing its cache. I don't know whether that will help, but it sometimes does when an app is misbehaving.
