Moving apps "from home screen" to SD card doesn't make sense. You can remove an app from your homescreen and just have it in the app drawer on most devices by just pressing and holding the icon until you have the option to remove it (not if you are running a MIUI ROM and launcher, where there is no app drawer). However, that doesn't move it to SD.

If you mean moving apps from internal storage to the SD card (which is different, as they can still be on the homescreen while residing on SD) then it really depends on what device you have and what Android version. That feature was introduced in Android 2.2, enhanced a bit in 2.3, and removed in 4.0, so almost all current Android devices do not allow this. A few manufacturers added the option back to some of their devices, but only some. If you have the option, go to Settings > Apps > Downloaded, select the app, and if you have a "move to SD" button which is not greyed-out you can use that to move the app. Even on devices which have this option only part of the app is moved, and not all apps allow you to do this.

If you don't have a device which supports this, and still want to do it, your only option would be to root the device, partition the SD card, and use either an init.d script or an app like Link2SD to move your apps to the new partition on the card. Before going any further you should find out what is involved in rooting your device, whether your carrier or manufacturer will consider the warranty void if you do this (and decide whether you care), and make sure you know what you are doing before proceeding. Rooting methods differ for different devices, and there is no one tool which will work for all devices (some claim they will, but they are lying), so if you want advice you'll have to tell us what phone and what android OS you have. But the important thing is to understand the procedures and implications and decide whether that is something you wish to do.
