Root SD-EXT partition mounts as read only

I'm not asking for help, I'm just going to post my adventures in fixing this for the benefit of anyone else who might have this problem. So it started last night, had been running the 0125 build of BACKside for about 24 hours. I noticed two updates for apps I have linked, so ran the updates. Link2sd gave an error on both I haven't seen before, failed due to the ext partition being read only. Rebooted, no change. Tried playing with the options in Link2sd, no change. Using ES File Explorer, went to ext partition, tried to make a folder. No problem there, so the partitions are mounted correctly. The issue is isolated to link2SD. Next step? Shift my apps back to phone and unistall link2SD, then reinstall. Going to take time, I have some 180 apps. If that doesn't work, then I'll backup all my stuff to a PC, then blow away my partitions and start over. With a three week old sleeping on my lap, this will be a slow process. Stay tuned for further details...

I had that issue a couple weeks ago after updating link2sd and I had to do a clean wipe and went back to the last version of link2sd. I know you weren't asking but I figured I'd tell you what worked for me.

Just because I wasn't asking doesn't mean your input isn't welcome! The thing is, I hadn't updated link2SD. I noticed that the error message link2SD was giving mentioned /data/sdext/dalvik, so I tried clearing cache and dalvik cache. Rebooted, used ES to navigate to /data/sdext/dalvik, and was able to create and delete files. Tried link2SD again, error remains. More trouble shooting to follow...

Well, that's something I've been wanting to do anyway. The thing is, I have a pathological need to go through the troubleshooting. I want to exhaust all other options first.

I figured out what is happening. Its a file system error, causing the volume to mount read only. Pull the card, pop it in a PC, and run fsck on it. For windows users, you can use Cygwin to get linux tools running. Problem solved!

i have link2sd on an optimus one with stock rom and franco #4 kernel.
got this error today...same stuff, couldn't move an app because it was saying read-only file system. so i rebooted the phone and everything got back to normal.
i see there hasn't been any activity on this forum since february. was this issue solved and i'm just having a bad luck?

It still happens. Follow his direction or backup your apps and do a full wipe install the rom and restore. There's a tutorial in my sig how to update with full wipe. Same directions.
