sd help please

Hey guys just gonna jump right in. Ive had the droid since the day it came out and have never been able to sync. when i plug it up it says to insert disk, but i can move files if i take the card out and plug it into computer. here is a list of things i tried. i have tried all this with a dell 1545 4gb ram win 7 and my wifes viao win vista 2gb ram.
-format card from both computers and droid
-factory reset droid started from scratch-no luck
-deleted all apps and tried again
-reinstalled all drivers both comps
-reinstalled win 7 on dell i bought on same day as droid
-usb debugging worked once now nothing
-bought new sd card-no luck
-deleted droid on computers from devices and tried again
-cycled phone on and off, cycled comps on and off
-i always select mount from notification screen
-tried motorola media software-no luck
-if it is on any search board in any forum to try i've tried it repeatedly

please help, love the phone just dont wanna take it apart everytime i want a new song or photo.

i am also using to cable that came with it
and have changed the drive letter multiple times

The only way my PC will recognize the SD card from the droid is when i connect via USB to my PC. If i remove the micro card and put it into SD card adaptor and put it into my PC, it won't recognize it. I am running Windows7 on HP that has a built in card reader for every size but micro.

Using the stock included cable right? Might be some problem with your Droid's Micro USB port. I have used mine on 3 PC's and 2 Mac's with no problem.

Under WinXP SP3, my DROID gets recognized on every PC I've plugged it into. (Upwards of 20 to 30 now ... I work IT at a school district with 1,000 Dells.)

Do you get the USB icon in the notification bar when it is plugged in?
