Have been using 32 gig sd Suddenly today for no apparent reason it just stopped working......lost bunch of apps that were moved to card and any other saved stuff documents and videos.....That S- - ks !!!!

sdcards usually fail without any warning. try it in another device or connect it to pc via adapter. see if they recognize it.

Yeah, I had an SD card plugged into my laptop, copied some files over, closed the lid, walked into another room opened the lid, and boom, dead SD.

I did try it with adapter in pc....no luck....and of course where do u think I saved twrp recovery stuff...........you guessed it ....to sd card... :(

Unfortunately no.....I actually copied sd card to folder on my pc back in sept.....It will turn out to be more annoying than anything I guess contacts and most backed up to Gmail I guess...ressurecting apps shouldnt be much I gather hopefully what ever Im missing wasnt that important anyway..........as long as I'll need to buy new card anyway.....whats largest size phone can handle anyway?

I have a 128GB Micro SD from PNY working like a champ in my LG Volt. Probably over kill but it's awesome.

Really 128 gb works ? ...........I was reading specs and I thought only up to 32 gb was supported?

It does. What I find is most devices have the hardware and the software compatible for larger SD cards but ether the bigger card wasn't available at the time or other marking reasons. When it comes to older devices, they too could support the bigger SD cards but in these cases a software update maybe necessary.

Yes, the basic difference between SDHC (2gb to 32gb) and SDXC (over 32gb) is the requirement for using the exFAT file system. Hardware wise it's more or less the same. Just a matter of having exFAT support in the ROM and kernel.

Ok so I gather it will format exfat......as I have been researching should I look for class 10 cards or would it not make a difference.....trying to watch bucks here.....would like to get as large capacity as practical

There will be some difference using the higher class cards, especially when backing up. My recommendation is getting a UHS-I card rated 70MB/s or over. I'm using the Silicon Power Elite since Amazon has had them on sale lately and it works great.

Thanks for help....went to BestBuy got a 64gb Samsung microSDXC card though it only shows
59.61gb of actual space......I really hate when you basically get less than you purchase

Wonder if the missing space was actually used as the cards format partiton info...that's my guess.

For most uses, it won't matter a lot. If you are going to be copying a lot of large files, the higher speed ones might be good. For certain use cases that involve lots of small writes (running an OS from the SD card, like linux in a chroot), you may get better performance using a slower throughput class2/class4 card because writes complete much faster (even though less data is written each time).

That would be correct. You'll see this on your computer too, although most don't notice unless you have multiple drives. The bigger the drive, the more space the filesystem formatting consumes.

Well so far new card seems to be working...managed to redownload lost apps...and at least some stuff from last time I copyied the sd contents to my pc
Lost some stuff which if I dont remember what it is probably wasnt important.....Biggest mistake for future reference is that I saved TWRP back up to sd card....never xpecting card to die....
1 question had I saved backup to internal phone and had done system restore would it have restored all from old sd card to new one even if new card is larger?
