Sd scare

Run circles doing the same thing I could do in 2011. So it takes a few more seconds to open the Walmart app. Big whoop.

I guess I'm lucky to not do everything via app like most people today do. I feel Tiktok is ruining attention spans and everyone is into their phone screens everywhere I go. Mine remains most of the time in my pocket doing nothing. I believe that eye doctors will make a killing of $$$ pretty soon.

I don't need a modern phone or gigs of RAM to play an MP3 or take a note or send a text message.

You CAN have an S5 right now. They're dime a dozen on Amazon and Ebay, and since it's the oldest VoLTE compliant handset out there, you should be able to just pop your SIM in and enjoy. Might need to set the APN to get data working correctly but that's it.

I was at last able to open the nuisance and extract the card, which looks ok. This was of course after I shut off the phone. When I rebooted with the card reinserted, My Files did not show it. It appears with Simple, but no files showing. I've tried twice. Maybe it really is corrupted.

Roger, but I don't know if I have an adapter. Would a crimebook be good enough for thar? If it's good or bad, what's next?

If it's bad, I guess replace it. If not, well, I'd back it up just in case and get a better phone...One that lasts hopefully. Do you got any tablets lying around? I got enough tablets in my home to rival a Starship's PADDs.

I do have ONE tablet. Somebody gave it to me and it's probably not worth that much. It's a qlink or whatever it's called and it's about as sucky as it gets. It could probably even make that crimebook.look good.

If it has an SD reader and can boot up still, that's my best guess to try. Although if it's really ancient (Android 2.3 or under) depending on the size of the card it might be too large. Many older tablets only worked with 32GB or less. Some are 16GB max.

I don't know it's capacity, only that it can't handle sd. It's not surprising considering how low end it is. Maybe some day I can get a good one.

I got the possibly lowest end tablet out there (Sylvania Sy-tab from 2009, did run Android 2.0, but refuses to boot now) and even it had an SD reader. In fact, ancient Android tablets had more ports than you could shake a stick at--including HDMI out, Mini USB-B, Ethernet and even a 56K modem in some cases!

Amen to that, the future they're showing us sucks. There was an episode of the original Star Trek in which people whose planet was doomed because its star was dying were able to escape to the past and live then. They had to changed by a machine which meant that they couldn't go back to their own time, but maybe that's a small price to pay.

The World Economic Forum is responsible for the rather dystopian future that's supposedly planned for us come 2030. There's even a book written by its founder called "Covid-19: The Great Reset" and the things they want scare the hell out of me.

I'll stop here since any further discussion borders on political discussion which I'm sure the mods don't want any part in here.
