SD Speed Boost

Just found a little program in the market (costs $.99) that actually seems to speed up my SD reads and writes on my Droid X by changing the cache size (can be set on the fly or at boot). I can really see a difference when loading music, photos and video files. The program does require root. So far I have not run into any glitches.

I started to download it, but then it asked me to allow access to 'Your Location', 'Network communication', services that cost you money', phone calls' and 'system tools'. This seems scary, but I'm not a techie - just a user. Is this advisable to proceed?

So I only need to root it when I'm boosting the SD card? Once it's done, I can re-flash and it won't return the speed as default?

What's the equivalent for a C10?

There are free ones too IIRC, shop around.

But a word of warning: dont use this unless you KNOW what read-ahead means and how it applies (or doesnt) to NAND flash.
