Help SDCard stubbornly refusing to unlock

OK, so I've been at this for 3 hours now and I'm hoping somebody around here will be able to help me.

I have a Lenovo A6000, running Android 4.4.

The issue is that the SDCard does not allow me to write anything on it.

I have tried everything. Yes, my phone is rooted. I have tried 2 different apps for modifying the permissions XML, plus I've actually gone in there with root browser and verified myself that media_rw is indeed added under the correct node. Additionally, I have restarted my phone like 3 or 4 times and still nothing.

This sdcard is less than 9 months old. So far I have had no complaints ( and I wish I could put the model here, but I've forgotten what it is. Don't even remember the brand. It's 32 gigs though ). I don't know why it's suddenly done this, and I hope it isn't dead.

Also if anyone has any idea how I can upgrade this phone to android 5.0, I welcome that too.

Hello there!
I'm not familiar with your device, but is the SD card removable?
My thought is to remove it, put it into a card reader, plug it into the computer and either try to write to it, or reformat it. (unless you have something that needs saving on it).

Edit: use this program to format it if you go that route:

Download SD Insight from the Play Store. There has been a lot of counterfeit SD cards lately. App should tell you if card is actually a 32gig.
