Apps SDK for Galaxy S3

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I'm currently enrolled in an android developers class. The teacher said that instead of using the incredibly slow emulator that's in the SDK package that we're using, that if we would like to we could use our own devices. I've looked all over and have only found generic directions that seem to be outdated. Any suggestions or ideas as to how/where I can get what I need so I'm able to check my work on my own phone instead of waiting for the emulator to load each time? Thanks.

This may be the same SDK you are using in class. Try a "Hello world" app to start out with. You may need to download the usb drivers for your particular device (from Samsung or already on your device if you use it as an attached drive).

Simply activate USB debugging on your phone... attach the device via USB... and I assume you're using eclipse... when you want to run your app simply go to run configurations... choose target and then you will see an option that says something along the lines of choosing which target to use on each run... check or uncheck it... click run... and you will see a list of attached devices and emulators... choose your phone of course... sorry if I wasn't exactly precise... I just did the same thing earlier today.... not near my computer to give you exact directions
