Root SDK manager EXE not launching.

Codec

Android Enthusiast
I tried coping the .bat to the SDK directory and running the program as admin. Tried copying the SDK EXE from the lib folder to the root of the SDK but no dice. The program just refues to launch, it just flashes a screen for a second the immediately closes.

Try the attachment in this post :)

EDIT: This too: http://androidforums.com/nexus-5-all-things-root/790362-nexus-5-rooting-guide.html

And I'm gonna move this over to the N5 All Things Root section
I really don't understand the instructions. Do they mean to extract the folder to C:\Windows\sdk-tools? Do I need 64-bit Fedora? I don't even know what that is.
On Windows, the commands from inside the sdk-tools directory are:
adb rest of command line
fastboot rest of command line
md5sums filename

Ok what is the rest of the command line?

I just don't understand why SDK manager won't open on my computer. I have Java installed.

this is the error i am getting

Try downloading the full SDK manager again and extracting to a brand new directory. Naturally, reboot your PC as something could have messed up during all this usb driver play.

I uninstalled phone drivers through device manager and started fresh with the universal driver that installs as 'Samsung phone' - that really confused me but its right.

I am not trying to avoid your question but you don't necessarily need SDK manager inatalled, if all you are trying to do is root. Just make sure the universal USB driver is installed and you should be good to go.

It flashes a cmd prompt then the manager opens up in the next 5 seconds or so. That's what happens with me.

Edit: also run it as administrator

it also happened to me. as i clicked a cmd prompt flashes for a second then closes. after clicking it again same thing happened.
but i noticed a new tab minimized on the taskbar for sdk manager while nothing is displayed. albeit i am on windows vista and grouping similar tab on taskbar feature (bug) is disabled. ;)

Here should be a fix:
Hold Shift+ right click "SDK" folder.
Up will come the "cut, paste, delete, etc" dialog window.
In that window there should now be "Open Command Window". Click that and it will open SDK.
Going off of this by memory so I hope it helps.
