Root Search Button Not Working From Home Screen

Hey All,

The capacitive search button on my Tri isn't working from any of the home screens. From within any app, it works fine and it brings up the app's native search bar, but when I try it from the desktop, Google Search never opens. If I long press it, I get the Android Settings menu, as configured through the CyanogenMod settings. I can open up the Google Search app just fine as a standalone app. I'm thinking that it may be an issue with Google Search itself, but am not sure. Any ideas? Thanks

yeah try re installing cm7 as a last resort

check the settings of your launcher itself, sometimes they disable it.

I think you can manually set the search button to launch an app, you could set that app as Search and that would work too.

its not a hardware problem if it works in other apps.

if nothing else works, the search widget would be a good alternative option.

i havent had that problem so I wouldnt know what to do besides that stuff

I tried to set the search button to open up the Google Search app from within the CyanogenMod settings, but when I do that, when I use the search button in an app, it opens up the Google Search app as opposed to the apps native search bar, so it's not an option. From reading the comments on the Google Market for this new version of Google Search, it seems to have done this to a lot of other people across diff phones, so it sounds like it's a software issue, so I'll just wait it out it seems. Thanks.
