Help "Searching for GPS"

No prob. It took me a while to figure GSam out myself, and I'm sure there's stuff that I have found still.

Good to know to stay away from the Cabelas app until they figure out the GPS issue, too!

Yeah i wasnt to crazy about the app anyway. But crazy that it was doing that. I would have never thought that app was causing the issue. Oh well. LoL

Thanks again though. Being a pc tech i was determined to fix this. LoL.
 
I've found that if I leave my phone on for several days, sometimes when I fire up maps it just can't see any GPS satellites......then if I do a "restart" it will work just fine. I generally don't keep restarting my phone every day so sometimes it is a pain while I'm driving and want to fire up some directions on the fly, to then find out that GPS is buggered up and needs a restart. I never had this problem before the JB update.
 
Mine was bad locking on to GPS before JB. It's a lot better after JB. I could watch GPS Status and it would find 10-12 satellites, but wouldn't lock signal. It locks on pretty quickly now as long as I'm not inside a metal roofed building.
 
Hi all

I have fixed an S3 mini gps by taking the back off and gently tightening up the small cross head screws around the perimeter of the case. (Some were quite loose). GPS locks superbly now - from randomly 2 sats to over 15. I googled it and confirmed this should work for the S3 as well. Looks like some problems are a connection issue with the antenna.

Mines gotten progressively worse over time. I don't think it's the screw issue since I did tighten them when that "fix" was discovered. The issue with mine is that it will see satellites but it won't lock on to them. When it does finally lock on, it needs at least 6 to know where it's at. Doesn't matter if I'm inside, outside, stationary, or moving.

As a comparison my N7 will instantly lock location sitting in a hotel room away from the windows... Maybe being a tablet allows for a larger antenna, but I doubt that is the whole issue.
