secure settings

Hi guys,
I'm running a rooted HTC with custom Rom and I have tasked set to open my running app and music player when I plug in headphones. I've also asked secure settings to open a playlist using a shortcut but I keep getting a message staying secure settings does not have permissions to open the file. Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
SL

How are the permissions set on the playlist file? You can either use a file explorer like ES or the terminal emulator to find out.

Looks like the issue is more fundamental than that. Secure settings won't perform any shortcuts- I've tried texts and direct dial but I get the same message 'secure settings does not have permission to execute shortcut'

Can you post a screenshot of your Secure Settings > Options screen? Preferably with the Actions category expanded.

Hi codesplice,
Can't figure out how to up load a pic to this forum using my mobile and don't have access to my pc at the moment. I can email it over to you? Execute Shortcut is definitely enabled under actions though

No worries; it sounds like everything is set up as it should be, so I'm not sure why it isn't working. You may want to try contacting the developer of Secure Settings to see if they can provide any insight: support@intangibleobject.com

Codesplice,
Having tried a number of other features on secure settings, I'm receiving notification that super user is denying access. Unfortunately when I open super user, the app screen is completely blank and doesn't allow me to change which apps I wish to add our remove. Any ideas??
Confused

A clue!

Which superuser app are you using? Koush's Superuser or Chainfire's SuperSU?

Whichever one it is, I would try installing the other to see what happens.

Also, do you have busybox installed? This app can be pretty helpful for that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox

Well originally it was the chain fire app but since installing the viper Rom, the super user app on my app page has changed appearance and now has the viper icon on it so it almost looks as though the chain fire one was replaced...??

Try reinstalling Chainfire's ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu ) and see if that helps. I call this the "Superuser Shuffle;" I went through it two days ago trying to figure out why certain kernel settings weren't sticking.

Maybe an problem with your custom Rom interfering?

Maybe you lost root access along the way?

That's kind of what I'm thinking. This sounds a bit like a soft-of borked root issue.

stocklobster, do you know if any rooted functions are working currently? If you launch a terminal emulator, for instance, can you successfully "su"? That should be a simple test to let us know which side of things we need to be troubleshooting.

hi guys,
I can use sytem app remover which requires SU status along with most secure settings functions. i am also able to use a cpu controller app which im assuming requires a rooted device too...?!
cheers

I'm starting to run short on ideas...

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling Secure Settings? I know the Android system makes installation order pretty important to Tasker plugins for some reason.
