Securing Nexus 5 from surveillance

Does anybody know if xda is developing anti-surveillance roms that will prevent phone taps and possibly provide encrypted communication? I know there is a large amount of people wondering this very thing and I haven't found any other threads about it.

Once the data leaves your device theres nothing the phone can do.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

You can encrypt data leaving your phone, it may not be very effective with carrier data but you it can be effective over wifi. Hell considering the insecurity of wifi just being able to do a wired connection with the N5 would be phenomenal.

There is nothing you can do if you are connecting your device to an external network that you do not control (like a cell phone carrier).

I concur.

There are big data companies that have already collected more info on us than Google and all the rest combined. It's just modern life circa 2013.

I bet there are tens of people wondering this ;-)

In all honesty it isn't something I or anyone I know worries about so I wouldn't know the answer

People who aren't worried about this don't understand modern surveillance.

There is not much you can do except buy the Nexus 5 and leave it in the box unopened.
I believe there are a few apps that encrypt transmissions though they are not N5 specific.
