Security for Tab2

I am wondering if one needs a security program for the Tab 2. McAfee or Norton? If one needs it for a laptop would one not need some sort of security system for a Tab?

Jim

I use Lookout on my T2 and phone, which does offer virus scanning protection. But I mainly got it for the Lost & Found features, in case the phone/tab is lost, misplaced or stolen.

I do hear Avast has a very good app for android, and I may give it a try sometime. I wouldn't put Norton or McAfee on nothing I have.

Thanks for responding. Do these take up much space? Can't overload an 8 gig device, but it does sound like a good idea, Agree?

Thanks again for the response.

Jim

If you connect to Google Play, it will tell you the size of any app for your specific device.

Saying that, Lookout on my Tab is about 8.9MB. Small compared to most games, extra browsers, etc. Yesterday, I d/l NavFree USA and maps for 3 states - that's over 200Mb.
So far, I've only used about half of the available 4.6Gb available for use.

I noticed that Lookout also makes a free app called Plan B that locates your device after it's lost/stolen, though it seems to work better for phones than tablets.

I use Lookout on my Tab 2 as well as both DROID phones. It seems to do a good job keeping malware apps off our devices, and it uses very minimal resources / battery power while it runs in the background. There is a paid version with extra features, but I find the free version is sufficient at this point.
