use a pin protected lockscreen and make sure USB Debugging isnt enabled in Developer Options :thumbup:
I assume USB debugging being disabled just disables USB connectivity?

no.. it does not disable USB.
when it is USB Debugging is "on"..
you can connect it to your PC.. and use the PC to get into your device for trouble shooting and transfer of information.
if someone has your Device.. in their hands.
a security lock would help protect the information.
but note: the SD card can still be removed and put into a PC.
