Help Security lock timing

For some reason, it seems that whenever I set a security lock on my lock screen, it always IMMEDIATELY activates when I shut the screen off, regardless if I set it to activate only after 15 minutes of inactivity or not.

Is this common?

I would say that it is behaving as designed. When you shut the screen off, you are telling it to lock. If you don't want it to lock, let the screen turn off on its own.

Well I didn't ask it to lock immediately after the screen shuts off, I set it to like 10 minutes and THEN lock. But regardless of what time settings, it still immediately locks when I shut off the screen.

Yeah...because you hit the button. That is telling it to lock because you don't want to use it. The time delay allows the screen to go to sleep, but allow you to turn it back on without having to unlock. Try letting the screen turn off on its own and see if it is locked when you turn it back on.

Nope. Even when I connect my dock and close the dock and open it again, WITHOUT locking the screen, it still locks it on me after 2 seconds.

Tried letting the screen timeout and yes, your explanation works there, but not for the dock.

Closing the dock is the same thing as pushing the button...you are telling the device that you are done using it.

I think this is a classic case of "feature, not bug".

Think of it this way. When you close it or press the button, you don't want anyone else to just open it up and see your porn.

Well.. I also have an HTC Incredible S and I set the phone to lock after 3mins. So when I press the power button and immediately remembers to do something else and press power button on, it does not ask me for the lock pattern. But the prime doesn't do it just locks instantly when the button is pressed.

Exactly what I'm talking about!!

Maybe it's a change in ICS. Personally, I hate lock screens, so I'm just glad I can disable it in ICS without an app.

I like it, so I don't have family messing with it if I'm gone for 5 minutes.
