Help security lock

trying to upgrade to 2.1, i'm following instructions from sonyericsson's site, i try to install a backup & restore file and i get a popup that says install blocked for security,your phone is set to block installation of applicatoins not sourced in android market. is there something wrong with my phone or is there a way to change the setting?

You need to go
Settings
Apllications and you need to put a tick in the box that says Unkown sources and this will allow yuo to install apps not sourced from the market

what network are you with and which are you using to update. PC Companion or SEUS??

I'm on AT&T and I'm using PC companion. I don't know why my phone doesn't have that choice in the settings. Is there a way to get that option?

AT&T dont allow that so the only way i can think of is if you flash your phone to other software.

do you think at&t would be able to do anything, like fix it?

They can but won't, I'm in the uk and from what I have read at&t are still to release 2.1 for the x10.

So your only option is to flash your phone with a generic 2.1 rom, and this will void your warranty.
