Looks like Verizon is giving us O.G. Turbo users another update. 23.21.49.en.US has rolled out to me. It says it's offering improvements in call performance and the latest Android security updates.

Of course Verizon's update page doesn't go into any more details. Anyone know what the call improvements are supposed to be?

For a brief moment I thought it might actually be 6.0, but alas, just a security update. Someone keeps telling me "the Turbo's in a soak test for 6.0 now!" but I do not believe it and won't believe it's happening till it's on my phone, because Verizon.

Make sure you back up your photos and videos first. Everything in Internal storage\DCIM\Camera is gone after updating my XT1254.

I'm sorry to read that; that shouldn't have happened. Nevertheless, from now on please pick some sort of solution to back up photos and videos, ongoing if possible (as you take them), to a service like Google Photos, Dropbox, Flickr, etc., or just connect your phone daily to make sure that things are backed up. Never mind an update - the phone could be lost/stolen, break, dropped in water, etc., anytime.

I did not encounter this problem. I have two folders in DCIM with images that were placed there before installing 23.21.49. One of them was /DCIM/Camera.

Perhaps they were deleted accidentally or by an app that was installed.

It is always good practice to prepare for the worst and always have a backup of images that you care about someplace other than on the phone. (I use Windows desktop.)

Mine is there with images from January.

Are you using any app from Cheetah Software or ES File Explorer? The recent release of the free ES had some rther ofdd behavior.

Hmm, yes, ES File Explorer. Maybe that's the culprit?

Edit: Actually it's Cheetah's File Manager that I have.

I suggest that you uninstall every app you have from Cheetah Software.

File explorer ... X-plore seems reliable. The user interface takes a little "getting used to".
