Hello, I am a new user here and could really use some help. I have been trying to track down the source of some overheating/ freezing/ battery drain issues for a while now. So please bear with me as I throw out all the info I have gathered.
So first I was running CyanogenMod 11, doing regular updates and the sort. From here I started to notice more and more that while using Bluetooth in my car on road trips, that the device would get very hot, start to freeze on and off (Music became choppy, screen animations less fluid) before becoming completely unresponsive where I had to either do a hard shut down or take the battery out.
After re-flashing CyanogenMod and clearing user data, etc... I still had this problem. So once this happened, I still noticed the issue. But it was most common when I was plugged into a charger and playing music through bluetooth or a stereo headset. But when I unplugged the USB cable, the device became responsive again and the music was no longer choppy. This was the only consistent thing I could get. I also recently discovered the same thing while using a recent PacMan Rom.
Note that I have tried different USB cables and different chargers. I am just questioning weather this is a hardware issue or a software issue. It is also worth noting that I recently had to purchase a new battery as I woke up and the device would not fully boot. I would get the battery icon that showed it was either charging, or falsely state it was at 100% and that while plugged into my pc, it is constantly disconnecting and re-connecting even when I swapped USB cables and ports on the computer. I suppose it wouldn't be too far fetched that both cables are bad...
Any help at all is appreciated!
EDIT: I have a SCH-R530U from US Cellular. So it is challenging to find a stock ROM to flash. I have a backup of it that worked earlier last week but overheated while charging. I have since been unable to flash the stock backup without having the constant error of Gapps stopped working coming up. IT makes the device unusable.
