Root seems 950=win

on the beast 7.5, 1ghz is fun to look at, golden. mine runs fastest and laglessest(yeah its a stretch) at 950M. anyone feel the same?

Every CPU is different, period. There is no "right combination" for all DROIDs. I'm running Sholes 2.0.3 at 1.3 GHz. And no matter what I try, I can barely get the thing up to 95

I am running at 1 GHz with sholes 2.0.3 and it runs way better than 800 MHz. My temps to get around 105 F hen surfing the web and playing games, sometimes 111 F. But thats nothing to worry about I dont think.

i stopped at 950 also. 1.3 rebooted when i did anything and 1.0 got as hot as an hour of music playing in like 5 minutes. 950 is the max my phone seems to be able to handle. no overheat and pretty snappy.

950 seems to be the magic number for mine too. 1000 was getting hot, and 800 was just a tad slower with no noticeable increase in stability or battery life, so 950 it is for now.

Ironically, I have rooted using SMU and honestly, I don't see a drastic improvement over the stock 550 on my phone. Like stated previously, not all CPUs are the same. I even use the 2.1 launcher at 550 and it doesn't lag at all for me. Of course I don't use a lot of widgets, I don't have Wifi enabled unless I'm at home and charging. I only keep apps/shortcuts on one screen. I thinks its just as easy to search my app tray as it would be to scroll through 3-5 homescreens. Plus I only have about 10-15 apps total on my phone so there isn't a lot of extra background stuff going on that some apps/widgets require. I do use a task killer and that seems to help a bit for me anyway (no need to comment about that topic here lol).
I guess I am lucky for the set-up that I personally run that I don't have many issues. I don't regret rooting at all, but except for some of the extra features, my phone works perfectly at the stock 550. At 800 or even 1ghz, theres minimal noticeable difference. Battery life is about the same, maybe a tad less, but nothing horrid.
Just my .02 :)

I really don't use a ton of widgets or shortcuts either. I just barely have 3 screens filled. On my phone though, I definitely noticed a snappier response from everything with it overclocked, especially opening and closing apps and going back to the home screen. Transitions were always smooth for me, but they feel even smoother now.

I guess every phone is different. If you're good at 550 then I see no reason to pump it up and risk damaging the hardware.
