Help Self installing malware

T K M

Lurker
I have gone and get myself a couple of self installing malwares that I cannot get rid of. They won't let me uninstall them and won't be removed with factory reset/hard reset. Any advices?

It could be two things why an app can't be uninstalled the first one is that it set itself as Administrator app and can be fix by going to settings->security->device administrator then disable the adminstrator rights of the offending app by unchecking it, the second is the pain in the arse and it sounds like this is actually your problem as it might have installed itself as a system app and this requires rooting and installing a stock or a custom rom for your device. Just do a search on how to do that for your device as each device have its own way of doing it.

If a factory reset doesn't get rid of them, then I'm afraid @Jhayzone is correct. You're going to need to reflash the factory firmware to get rid of it.

What phone do you have and who is your carrier? Maybe we can get you decent instructions on how to do it.

@T K M I also moved your thread out of the apps and games areaThis is more of a general question.

Yeah, if it's not in the list of device administrators then you'll have to reflash, but flashing stock firmware does not require root. The technique does depend on the phone model though.

You say "self-installing", but I've never heard of one that can do that in Android. The more normal thing is that the malware is hidden inside an app that you install - this does include malware that has the ability to install other malware without asking you, so if you think it has self-installed you should check your other apps (particularly look for anything with the permission to install apps).

Use Es File Exploerer from Play Store i use that to unintall apps that wont allow me to uninstall

The phone I'm using is LG G4C. About carrier. It doesn't have any carrier

By not having a carrier, I assume you mean you bought it unlocked. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with LG phones other than to know you have to use their flash tool utility to reflash the factory firmware. Hopefully someone with more LG experience can chime in and get you set up.

So are the apps listed as device administrators? What apps are they anyway, and what malicious behaviour?
Here is the screenshot

There's a difference between being a device administrator and having root access, and between being a device administrator and being installed to system.

But those are installed as system apps, which is why a reset won't remove them. You need to reflash your device.

(Some of them are also trojans, i.e. we're almost certainly hidden in something you installed. Possibly one of them then installed the reset).

Unfortunately I also don't know LG devices, so can't tell you how.

I appreciate your help. Do you know anyone who could help me?

I google search your device hoping to see an xda thread but tough luck but I did find this: http://www.modifyandroid.com/stock-roms/lg/how-to-flash-stock-rom-for-lg-g4c/

If you're desperate enough then you can try that at your own risk the instruction seems rasy enough to understand but it is still better if there is someone here who have enough knowledge of your device and walk you through the process and avoid breaking your phone.

The actual firmware would depend on the particular device, but the tools and procedures will probably be similar to other LG devices. I know that @El Presidente has owned LG devices (though his experience with the G4 was not good!) so I'm tagging him here to see whether he knows or can suggest someone who can.

The link Jhayzone provided seems ok, I'd use LGUP instead of Flash tool though as Flashtool is designed for older software versions.

When i can get to a PC, I'll link you to the files you need.

What's the exact model of the 4C you have? All LG devices have an internal code name, the standard, EU variant of the normal G4 is the H815, so yours will be something similar.

Enter your IMEI here - http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/

That will hopefully pull up the correct .kdz files for your device. If that fails, this site is potentially legit - https://lg-firmwares.com/category/lg-series/lg-g4c/

You can download LGUP and the appropriate dll files from here - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24415232478677190

And whilst this mentions the regular G4, the instructions also work for the G4c - https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
