Help "Send To" type shortcut

Hi All,

Got a new LG G6 on T-Mobile, also have a router with portable HDD attached. Is there a way to make something like a (Windows) "send to" shortcut under sharing? I can navigate to my shared folder in the router's HDD using "ES Save To", but would like to have that folder appear under the "sharing" options. Possible?

I had previously found LAN under ES, but didn't know how to set it up. I tried following that article but had zero success, so Googled and found other similar articles (that also didn't work). When I "scan", I see my router's shared drive. I also see (only) one of my three other networked (and shared) computers but it's "grayed out" as in inaccessible. Scanning does not see any of the shared drives/folders on my other two 'puters. Even locating my laptop's IP and using it, along with username and password never shows under a scan.

This LG phone has been a complete nightmare trying to get stuff working properly! My computer's BT won't recognize it, PIA's VPN is a complete failure, now this. Almost as if it's totally locked down...

What brand and model router do you have? Also, are all of your Win PC's running the same version of Windows? Have you confirmed file sharing is enabled for those 'greyed out' directories you cannot access over your LAN?
Your router is the foundation of your home LAN, with all your PCs, mobile devices, and such all tied together through it. Things become a lot more complicated when it involves multiple platforms as some are a lot less forgiving when it comes to compatibility with other operating system's networking capabilities.
 
Router is a new Netgear R7000. All computers are Win7 Pro (or higher). All have shared folders/drives that are visible to each other and have always been. Only thing "different" is the router was replaced about 6 weeks ago. Previous router was a D-Link DIR614 that was prolly 10 years old. I'm beginning to think this new G6 phone is a slimy POS that is completely uncooperative with any other systems...

OK, so your new router does have some nice integral options in its firmware for the sharable USB drives. You might want to confirm and/or re-configure things, see chap. 6 and 8 in the manual for your model:

As far as your G6, you might want to re-configure your router to favor IPv4 and see if that makes any improvement for your phone's WiFi networking capabilities (the R7000 appears to favor IPv6 a lot).
 
Hmm.
Have you tried uninstalling ES then re-install it?
I use it on my windows 8 PC with no issues whatsoever, all phones in my household can see, share, copy, move, delete any type of file I throw at it.
sharing folders: documents, videos, pictures, music.
But that's it.
I login with my username and password via WiFi.
I've never been able to access a plugged in hard drive, BTW....ES will not see it since it's not a shared drive

I've got the PDF manual, the one you posted is slightly different so I'll take another look. I've looked all over my G6 and don't see anything about IPv4 vs IPv6. Can you narrow it down for me?

Are you referring to the ES being on the phone? Your second sentence makes it sound like it's on your Win8 PC. Yeah, the router having a sharable HDD is nice, actually it has two USB ports. Almost like a lightweight NAS...

The reference to your G6 was relevant to your previous statement on it being a 'slimy POS', and as far as the rest of the wording I can only ask you re-read that suggestion.

Yeah, I misread that. :( The router has IPv6 turned off by default. I un/re installed ES and now get something a little different. I'm getting my printer and both LAN and WiFi versions of one 'puter but still grayed out. My laptop may not be showing up as it's configured for VPN. Clicking on a grayed out connection gives this SMB 2.0 message that didn't come up before. Guess that means I need the paid version? There are SMB plugins on Playstore but they seem program-specific and nothing for ES.

Try a different file manager app. ES File Explorer was at one time the 'go to' app for a lot of us but now that its maintainer has changed things to monetize it a lot more it's not the same any more. I recently switched to the Ghost Commander app and found it to work quite well (oh, and no ads):

OK, I dumped ES and added the above stuff. Looks to be rather user-unfriendly and difficult to figure. I can get to the shared folders at least, just don't have any idea what comes next...

So, forget about file managers for a sec. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way.

Someone must know how to add an "object", (preferably a shared folder) to the "Send To" menu that comes up whenever you long-press a pic. Mine's got a bunch of junk in it that is all but useless. I don't know much about droid stuff, there should be a way. I mean, if something as stupid as Yelp is in there...

Weird, mine shows up fine. It is connected directly to the router though. I do have external drives connected to several networked computers, I'll have to investigate that...
