Help Sending Emoji

So I have handcent and the emoji plugin and I am trying to send a text message with a emoji icon to my friend. She has a iPhone on AT&T but she can't seem to see the emoji icons that I send her. They come up as +h03GC/ or something like that for her.

Anyway I can have them show up for her or nope?

But doesn't the iPhone have emoji built into iOS?

I'm not sure if it's the same thing.
But I know that for android both need it.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think you can do that.
A simple way to find out is to have them send you one from their phone. If you don't get it, then you'll know that's the reason. If you do get it, then try another text app, like ChompSMS.
